After placing and
working with foster children, arranging private adoptions, and
processing financial eligibility applications for social work agencies
in CA and NY, Kay started teaching 4th grade in St.
Johnsville, NY. She then stayed home for several years with small
children and started to substitute in Pennsylvania and later back in New
York as the children grew older. Kay started teaching full time in
Greenwich in 1987 in the 4th grade and trained as a Reading
Recovery teacher in 2000-2001. She has a Bachelor’s from Syracuse
University and a Master’s degree in Education and one in Administration
from SUNY. She has an endless list of hobbies mostly focused around
physical activities, music, and gardening. Kay has been the Primary
Building Representative since 2000 and served on the negotiating team
for the last two contracts. She would like to continue as Building
Representative. because she has seen the benefits of this organization
for both teachers and students. She likes the union outreach into the
community and wants to do her part to have the union continue to
succeed. |
