|
Randy is currently in his fourth year teaching 4th grade in the Middle Grade Building at Greenwich Elementary. Since he has been teaching in Greenwich, he has started the Elementary Running Club for 4th through 6th grade students. This club meets twice a week for six weeks in the fall and six weeks in the spring. Before coming to Greenwich, Randy taught 3rd grade in Saratoga Springs. In between the two teaching positions, he substituted for nearly all grade levels and special areas in Greenwich, as well as numerous other area districts. Randy’s undergraduate degree is in psychology from Widener University in Philadelphia, PA. He also completed his Master’s degree in elementary education at Widener University and his certification is in Elementary Education K-6. In addition to his teaching certification in New York, Randy holds a certification in Elementary K-6 in Pennsylvania. Previous to teaching at the elementary level, he worked nearly three years at a social services agency in Wilmington, DE where he taught GED skill and job training to mentally-ill, drug-addicted, homeless adults. During summers Randy can be found working at Blue Sky Bicycles in Saratoga Springs supporting his habit of bicycle and triathlon racing. When not at the shop, he is usually in the pool, out on the bike or out running on the road training for triathlon races. The past three summers he competed in the Ironman Triathlon in Lake Placid, NY in addition to numerous shorter triathlons. This summer Randy, and his wife, Karen, will be driving cross country to compete in Ironman Canada in Penticon, British Columbia. Currently, Karen and Randy live in Saratoga Springs, where they are undertaking the task building a new house. Randy has lived in Saratoga Springs for the past eight years. Prior to that, he lived in the Philadelphia area, where he grew up. This past year Randy decided that he wanted to be more involved with GTA in order to have first hand knowledge of, and input into, the decisions that affect our membership. Randy believes he brings a unique skill set to the position of building representative that enables him to communicate well with administration as well as colleagues.
